Eligibility & Divisions
Selection & Preparation

Selection

  1. Once your entry is received it will be reviewed by a selection committee.
  2. Approximately 30 to 45 entries will be selected for the live audition.
  3. If selected, you will be contacted no later than 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019.

Check-In

All contestants are required to check in no later than 6:15 p.m. on the date of their performances. Failure to check in prior to your call could result in disqualification.

Mandatory Contestant Meetings

All contestants are required to attend a mandatory meeting on
Wednesday, February 27th, at 6:30 pm.

Performances & Judging

Performance Rules & Requirements

  1. No coaching is allowed during the live performance. 
  2. Performance must be totally self-contained.
  3. A sound system will be provided by the Wellington Amphitheater for the performance.
  4. IMPORTANT Participants must provide two separate instrumental CDs, clearly labeled with a name, age, and song name. One CD is for the live performances, and the other will be used in the finals for selected contestants.
  5. Time limit for live performance will be 4 minutes.
  6. Props are permissible; however the placement of props must be completed within 2 minutes. All props must be clear from the stage immediately following the performance. No littering of the stage allowed.
  7. Finalists will have their pictures posted on the Wellington website, and their final performance will be aired on Channel 18.

 

Judging

Live Auditions = Celebrity judges (a 3 judge panel)
Finals, Top 12-15 = Celebrity judges, live
Tie = Additional performance; judges vote

The decision of the judges is final in all matters.

Prizes

Cash prizes will be awarded to the grand prize winner and a runner up in each age division. The winners will be featured at the Wellington Amphitheater. The Grand Prize Award will be selected from all age groups. The winners are responsible for paying all taxes on prizes.

Grand Prize Award $ 500.00
Runners-up (one from each Age Division) $ 250.00

If the winner is disqualified for any reason, Wellington reserves the right to award the prize to the second-place contestant at its sole discretion.

What to Bring

  1. Application Form (one per Individual)
  2. Waiver of Liability (18 and over)
  3. Waiver of Liability and Parental Consent (for Minors)
  4. Non-Refundable Application Fee of $25 (checks can be made payable to "Village of Wellington")
  5. Head shot (4" x 6" minimum) and short, 2-3 sentence biography (to be used for Finals program)
  6. Proof of Birth Date (Photo ID, Birth Certificate, etc.)
  7. A link to a YouTube video of your performance (email to: jpiconcelli@wellingtonfl.gov) OR, a CD* or DVD* of your performance. (Lip syncing will not be accepted!)

*CDs and DVDs must be clearly labeled with performer’s name, title of the piece, phone number. CDs and DVDs should be no more than 4 minutes. CDs and DVDs will not be returned!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Lyrics, costumes and performances must be appropriate for all audiences.
