Fiscal year budget of $106.3 million funding increased projects, infrastructure improvements, public safety and more deputies, extensive parks and recreation programs, and education support grants for our 63,556 residents.
Wellington's Council gave final approval for its $106.3 million budget for the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year that begins October 1st, during its Council meeting on September 24, 2019.
"Wellington lowered its millage rate to 2.47 mills while continuing to maintain our high service levels. We are focused on continuing to maintain our infrastructure, improve and expand facilities, provide flood control, support our 11 A-rated schools with education grants, provide outstanding parks and recreation programming, support our seniors with expanded services, and expand our public safety with more deputies through the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office -- all with a tax decrease. This is the type of budget Wellington’s Council are happy to deliver for the residents of Wellington," said Wellington’s Village Manager Paul Schofield. "None of it would have been possible without our Council’s leadership. They led the charge in securing a millage decrease this coming year so we thank them and the commitment of our staff for investing in protecting Our Great Hometown."
Highlights of the budget include:
- $7.8 million for capital projects including roadway resurfacing; improvements for neighborhood parks, stormwater facilities, multi-modal pathways, and communications and technology; and the Town Center Boardwalk and the Wellington High School Sports Complex.
- $9.4 million in additional funding for water and wastewater renewal and replacement projects. Wellington currently has approximately $40 million in active utility construction projects focused on safety, modernization, expansion, and resiliency.
- $400,000 in education grants supporting all of Wellington’s 11 A-rated schools
- $136,500 for Senior Programs and Services
- $237,000 for Great Neighborhoods and Housing Rehabilitation Grants
Wellington’s Council approved a budget with a property tax rate decrease for Wellington’s families and businesses. For a home valued at $360,000 with the $50,000 homestead exemption, the tax increase will be $11.
