Update 3 - Posted November 9, 2022
Wellington Emergency Operations officials continue to monitor the Tropical Storm Nicole. Meteorologists tell us flooding rain and storm surge remain the main concern for large portions of South Florida Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, with a significant wind threat for the northern coast of Palm Beach County. We are still under a Tropical Storm Warning and Hurricane Watch.
Heavy Rainfall & Flooding
Wellington's storm water management team has been actively monitoring water levels; our canals are within acceptable levels and we are pumping as necessary. You will notice water collecting in swales and along some streets today. This is normal! These low-lying areas act as secondary detention areas. Also expect storm water ponds and canal water elevations to increase and decrease in response to the rainfall.
TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN! Stay safe by avoiding puddles and flood waters. Do not drive or walk through flooded streets.

Update 1 - Posted November 7, 2022
Wellington Emergency Operations officials are closely monitoring Subtropical Storm Nicole as it makes its way across the Atlantic. It is forecast to continue moving towards Florida over the coming days. The National Weather Service has issued a Hurricane Watch for Palm Beach County. A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the watch area. A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous. Meteorologists tell us the main impacts to our area will be periods of heavy rain and gusty winds starting Wednesday, November 9th through Thursday, November 10th.
Preparations Underway
As with any storm, our attention turns to the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding. Wellington's storm water management team has been making preparations at pump stations around the Village, clearing debris from our canals, and ensuring they are at their optimal levels in anticipation of heavy rainfall. We're working closely with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) as they prepare the regional flood protection system to protect communities from flooding and handle possible heavy local rainfall from the tropical disturbance.

Waste Collection remains on its regular schedule in Wellington.
