As the holiday season comes to an end, many people are left wondering how to discard their Christmas tree. Wellington offers a green solution with its free tree recycling service. Residents and businesses may drop off their discarded trees Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 through Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at Greenbriar Park (2975 Greenbriar Boulevard). Posted signs will direct residents to the drop-off location on the easternmost park entrance. The collection site will be open Monday - Saturday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Artificial trees will not be accepted. Remove all lights, tinsel, nails, tacks, tree skirts, and stands, or any other non-organic materials. Please note that in general, tree decorations are not recyclable. Please re-use them, donate them, or dispose of them in your garbage bin.
Trees will be recycled into mulch and used at the Wellington Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat (Section 24).
Residents must remove ALL decorations including lights and tinsel from the tree.
For single-family residents who are not able to drop off trees for recycling, please be sure to remove all decorations and place trees in the swale or your vegetation container for regular vegetation collection.
