[ARCHIVED] Reduced Speed Limit along South Shore Blvd during Utility Project

Road Work Ahead sign leaning over on fence

Beginning Monday, May 17, 2021, drivers traveling along South Shore Boulevard will need to reduce their speed to 35 miles per hour during the construction of the Force Main Replacement project. The reduced speed limit will remain in effect throughout the week of May 17th

Along with the reduced speed, temporary sidewalk, and bicycle lane closures are expected. A maintenance-of-traffic plan will keep drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians safely moving through the area.  All detours and lane closures will be clearly marked and variable message boards will be used to keep residents informed. When sidewalks and bicycle lanes are affected, alternative pathways will be identified.

The contractor will work from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some night and weekend work may be required.

Wellington’s Utility Department began the process of installation of a new force main (underground sewer transmission pipeline) on South Shore Boulevard between Forest Hill Blvd and Sheffield Street in April 2021. The project will replace an existing pipeline, allowing the Village to provide redundancy in the system and the ability to accommodate future growth. The Project will be implemented in three (3) phases and is anticipated to take approximately three (3) years to complete.

Please call 561-791-4145 should you have any questions regarding the project.
