Wellington’s Utility Department has begun the process of installation of a new force main (underground sewer transmission pipeline) on South Shore Boulevard between Forest Hill Blvd and Sheffield Street. The project will replace an existing pipeline, allowing the Village to provide redundancy in the system and the ability to accommodate future growth.
The Project will be implemented in three (3) phases and is anticipated to take approximately three (3) years to complete. Construction on Phase I will commence on April 26, 2021, and will be executed as follows:
Phase 1 A: South Shore Blvd. between Fountain View Blvd and Bedford Mews Drive
Phase 1 B: South Shore Blvd. between Bedford Mews Drive and Hurlingham Drive
Phase 1 C: South Shore Blvd. between Hurlingham Drive to Big Blue Trace
Phase 1 D: South Shore Blvd. between Sheffield Street and Fountain View Blvd
The contractor will work from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some night and weekend work may be required. Drivers along South Shore Blvd can expect bike lane and sidewalk closures during construction. A maintenance-of-traffic plan will keep motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians safely moving through the area. All detours and lane closures will be clearly marked and variable message boards will be used to keep residents informed. When sidewalks and bicycle lanes are affected, alternative pathways will be identified.
Please call 561-791-4145 should you have any questions regarding the project.
