Wellington has completed the third phase of a community-wide Tree Inventory and Assessment Report. The report was completed with assistance from the Urban and Community Forestry through a $10,000 grant.
The project’s main objective was to inventory trees in community spaces such as parks, facilities, common areas, and other property managed by the Village. The identification of the approximately 3,500 existing trees within the Village’s urban forest is an important step in properly managing and protecting the community’s tree population.
The Village engaged a local engineering firm to gather data, including mapping of all trees within public right of way and Village parks. The Village worked closely with the consultant through the process to ensure the data provided met the needs of the community. The final report is available to view from the Village upon request.
The Village is extremely grateful for the technical and financial assistance provided by the U.S. Forest Service, Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and Florida Forest Service.
