Wellington has issued an emergency declaration for COVID-19 and elevated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) status to modified Level 2. This local emergency declaration enables the Village to allocate funds for emergency purposes and enhances coordination with county and state authorities. Palm Beach County’s EOC is currently at Level 2 partial activation. Village officials are taking steps necessary to allow them to access state and federal funds and issue regulations on gatherings and public safety, including business hours and curfews.
We have made adjustments to our parks and facility hours. All indoor & outdoor programming and activities are canceled until further notice. Please continue reading for specific facility closures.
In accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health, Wellington urges all residents to practice social distancing. Social distancing measures include limiting large groups of people coming together, closing buildings and canceling events.
Wellington Emergency Officials ask residents and business owners to make responsible decisions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including distancing measures of no more than 10 people in an area together. Also, for any gatherings, people should have the availability to have six feet of personal space.
As for our seniors and the more vulnerable members of our community, we are continuing to find and develop ways to help them directly. Our STAR program is still operational, and we are working with our community partners like Wellington Cares and Interfaith to help you get the food and medicine they need.

INFORMATION FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES
Governor Ron DeSantis has issued an executive order, telling restaurants to:
• Limit customer entry to 50% of capacity.
• Stagger and limit seating to ensure seated parties are separated by a distance of at least 6 feet.
• Encourage restaurants to continue and expand take-out and delivery services.
• Screen all employees and prohibit entry for employees that answer “yes” to a series of health and travel questions.
• All bars and nightclubs throughout the state will close for the next 30 days.
There are options for assistance available to businesses that are now facing a marked decline in clientele as a result of these social distancing measures. Governor DeSantis recently activated Florida’s Business Damage Assessment. Businesses that believe they have been impacted can visit floridadisaster.biz to take the survey, which is helping the state analyze the impact of coronavirus and determine the scale of need.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital.
