Civics 101 Program

Wellington's Tom Atkins Civics 101 is a civic engagement program for the Village of Wellington's middle and high schools that provides an opportunity for students to meet their elected officials and learn more about the policy-making processes and operations of municipal government. Students attend three educational sessions.

Educational Sessions

Meeting the Elected Officials

A chance to ask questions about the day to day functions of an elected official.

Meeting the Departments

An overview of what roles and responsibilities each department the Village is responsible for.

Implementing a Mock Council Meeting

Students learn and practice how to host and participate in a municipal council meeting.
