April is National Fair Housing Month in Florida. The Village Council issued a proclamation declaring April Fair Housing Month in the Village of Wellington.
The Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968 by President Lyndon Johnson. This law was signed to protect Americans from discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on color, race, national origin, and religion and the law later extended to sex, disability, and family status.
Did you know Palm Beach County passed an ordinance to require a 60-day notice for rent increases and terminations?
The Village of Wellington held a virtual Fair Housing Month Webinar on April 12th at 12pm. Presentations were given by representatives from Palm Beach County's Office of Equal Opportunity and Department of Housing and Economic Development. Attendees learned about a wide variety of programs and services offered through these offices and gained an understanding on the Fair Housing Laws in Florida.
