It has long been a dream of Del and Barbara Williamson to see children playing together regardless of their physical abilities. They’ll get to see their dream come true at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010, when Wellington opens Scott’s Place, the barrier-free playground made possible by a donation from the Williamsons.
In honor of their son Scott, the playground was designed in an equestrian theme, complete with a life size horse statue. It includes large play structures designed with ramps that enable any child to reach all the play areas. Wide walkways and turf surfaces will allow wheelchairs access throughout the playground.
Honored guests include the Williamsons, Wellington Council, and many of the 300 volunteers who donated their time in building Scott’s Place at the Community Build held on January 16th and 17th.
Scott’s Place is in Town Center at 12193 Forest Hill Blvd. Town Center, Wellington’s gathering place, will include an amphitheater and a new Wellington Municipal Complex, both of which will open later this year.
Please join the Wellington Council in opening Scott’s Place to all the community’s children.
