Wellington’s 19th Annual Children’s Holiday Fishing Classic

The 19th Annual 2009 Children’s Holiday Fishing Classic will be held on Saturday, December 19th at the Wellington Community Center Dock at 12165 W. Forest Hill Boulevard. It promises to be the biggest and best tournament ever. Families and friends are invited to come and see this FREE children’s fishing bonanza. The tournament starts with registration at 8:00 a.m. at the dock area with the tournament to follow from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. from the dock and the surrounding shore (no boats please). The awards and fish tales follow from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place (based on the total weight of fish caught & released) in each age group: 6 & under; 7-9; 10-12; and 13-15.

Each child entering will receive a free tackle gift from Gander Mountain of Palm Beach Gardens. Come out and enjoy the day courtesy of Wellington Parks & Recreation Department and the Royal Palm Beach Parks & Recreation Department. For more information please call 753-2484, 790-5124, or 793-2675.

Rods & Reels are available for use, courtesy of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, an event co-sponsor. Bait is provided with live worms from Gander Mountain of Palm Beach Gardens and bread from Publix at the Courtyard Shoppes in Wellington. Trophies are courtesy of Visual Images. The fishing tackle award prizes and the many door prizes are provided through a donation from Wellington Professional Centre and Gander Mountain of Palm Beach Gardens.
