1951	C. Oliver Wellington purchases land in area to become Wellington
1953	Acme Drainage District established
1959	Adopted Plan of Reclamation for improvements within the District
1971	ICOF proposes to develop Wellington’s land; Acme Drainage District agrees to construct roads, canals and pumping stations
1972	District authorized to provide water and sewer service as part of implementation of Countywide plan
1972	Palm Beach County Commission approves the “Wellington Planned Unit of Development”
1972	Work begins on Lake Wellington, the centerpiece of the new community
1973	Ground breaking is held for the first phase of Wellington
1974	First 1,000 residential lots become available for sale
1975	District’s name changed to Acme Improvement District to reflect increased responsibilities
1976	Community gains its first shopping center Wellington Country Plaza
1977	Gould Florida Inc. adds Palm Beach Polo & Country Club to the Wellington project
1978	Palm Beach Point opens
1979	Groundbreaking at Aero Club and Wellington Club East which is now the Wellington Community Center
1980	First public school is built, Wellington Elementary School
1985	Corepoint becomes Wellington's final master developer
1986	Wellington Regional and the Boys & Girls Club open
1987	Wellington Landings Middle School opens
1988	Wellington High School opens
1990	Amendment to District enabling popular election for Board of Supervisors
1991	Panther Run Elementary opens
1996	Village created the Vision Statement and Community Visioning Goals
1995	Village Incorporated
1999	Village adopted a Comprehensive Plan
2000	Mall at Wellington Green Opens
2001	Celebrated the Village’s Fifth Anniversary
2002	First municipal election of mayor
2003	Developed ordinance to establish an additional $10,000 homestead exemption for seniors
2003	Named by CNN as one of the top ten places to live
2005	Implemented the Landmark Everglades Forever Act compliance program
2006	Celebrated the Villages 10th Anniversary
2007	Adopted and implemented the Vision 2022 Strategic Plan Initiative
2008	Adopted and implemented the Economic Development Initiative
