Welcome to Sustainable Wellington!

Wellington's History
Sustainable Wellington is a community vision. The primary goal is to ensure that Wellington remains a great hometown. Wellington was developed as a premier residential community that has grown to include a regional hospital, regional mall, and a world-renowned equestrian community. We have great parks, schools, and neighborhoods. Wellington is truly a community that has something for everyone. Simply stated, Sustainable Wellington is important to our community’s economically viable future.

Sustainable Wellington focuses on ways to maintain our great hometown by identifying initiatives and programs that enhance our existing assets. It balances the need for protecting our residential lifestyle with development of a strong economic base.  Sustainable Wellington aims to maintain the quality of our neighborhoods, create jobs, expand educational opportunities, preserve open space, and support residential and commercial reinvestment.

The name “Sustainable Wellington” is used for branding as well as to communicate ideas and concepts. Although many of the initiatives may take several years to implement; our ability to achieve and sustain the vision begins today.

The Sustainable Wellington four core principles are: Liveable Neighborhoods, Open Space, Education and Employment. The current initiatives include:
