In order to keep it that way, Wellington is working hard to make sure our community is environmentally sustainable so that tomorrow’s residents can enjoy the same quality of life today’s residents do. The City takes its responsibility to protect our environment while promoting a healthy community and economy very seriously.Wellington government is doing its part to reduce environmental impacts by implementing "Green" practices in its day-to-day operational activities. Some of the community and governmental initiatives Wellington has implemented include:
· an enhanced recycling program

· construction of a LEED certified City Hall
· native landscaping requirements
· electronic document management
· greenhouse gas reduction strategy
· a green procurement policy
· green cleaning policies
· water conservation strategy
· green fleet program

Wellington has recently applied to become a certified Florida Green Local Government by the Florida Green Building Coalition. Palm Tran Park and Ride - WellingtonWith cooperation and support from Wellington and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Palm Tran is operating a park and ride facility for commuters in Wellington.
The park and ride lot is ideally situated near the Mall at Wellington Green, providing easy access for commuters to connect to several Palm Tran bus routes, including a newly modified limited-stop express Route 40. Route 40 Eastbound transports commuters from our western communities to downtown West Palm Beach in 35 minutes during select peak travel times. To view route schedules click here. |
