Wellington Holiday Parade Road Closures

Post Date:12/01/2017

The 34th Annual Holiday Parade, hosted by Wellington and the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 10th beginning at 1:30 p.m. This year’s theme is a “World of Make Believe”.

As in previous years, in order to provide a safe procession of the parade, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) requires the temporary closure of Forest Hill Boulevard from its northern intersection at Wellington Trace to South Shore Boulevard between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and approximately 5:30 p.m. or the conclusion of the parade.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m., Forest Hill Boulevard will be closed along with Ken Adams Way (formerly Country Club Road) and Chancellor Drive. In addition, one lane on the east side of Forest Hill Boulevard between Montauk and Ken Adams Way will be closed beginning at 8:00 a.m. to facilitate setup of the stage and the section of Forest Hill Boulevard between Wellington Trace and Ken Adams Way will be closed to one lane of traffic (10 mph) from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

There will also be limited lane closures beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Boulevard between the former Wellington Mall and Wellington Plaza where traffic will be sporadically stopped to allow for pedestrian crossings.

The designated parade route will begin at the intersection of Wellington Trace and Forest Hill Boulevard and continue east on Forest Hill Boulevard to South Shore Boulevard.

Public Works employees will be stationed at strategic points along the parade route with barricades to prevent the movement of traffic on the roadway as the parade passes through, as well as to provide assistance to area residents. PBSO deputies will also be stationed at various points to assist in controlling traffic.

Signs have been placed along Forest Hill Blvd. at each subdivision entryway and variable message board signs have been located at each end of Forest Hill Boulevard in advance of the event to advise residents of the upcoming road closures. A CodeRed Call will also be sent to all affected residents on Wednesday, December 6th.

The parade is anticipated to conclude within four (4) hours of its commencement. Roads will be re-opened once the Public Works staff has completed cleanup of all debris which may have been left in the medians and on the roadway during the parade procession. A PBSO Deputy will also be assigned to trail the parade the entire time it remains on the roadway.
